Behind bespoke: From first sketch to final products
Creating a bespoke collection is no small feat. From sketching, site visits, sourcing, sampling, refining and a fair bit of head-scratching, every step is incredibly rewarding and seeing a collection come to life makes all the hard work worth it. Here's a a bit of a behind-the-scenes look into our process.
Step one: The beginning
Every bespoke collection starts with a good chat. In these meetings, we dive into the client’s vision, swap ideas, and sketch out a rough plan of the types of products they might like. It’s all about understanding what they'd like and deciding what’s possible.
Step two: Sketch, Sketch, Sketch
Once we’ve chatted through the vision, it’s time for the fun! This often starts with a site visit where Poppy can sketch on the spot, snap photos, and soak up any details that might inspire the collection. Back in the studio, there's more sketching, refining, and forming ideas into designs. This is where the first sparks of the bespoke range really start to come to life.
Step three: First draft

Next comes the nitty-gritty: sourcing materials, finding the right manufacturers, and getting samples in hand. It’s a careful process - we test, tweak, and check every detail to make sure the final pieces live up to the vision.
Step Five: Production
Finally, it’s time for the magic! Bringing the finished collection to life. Seeing sketches transform into real, tangible, hand-crafted pieces never gets old.
For some designs, that means embroidery, for others, it’s about preparing designs to become printed fabrics that will form the basis of the products. But it’s not just about the products themselves - every detail counts, from carefully chosen materials to the finishing touches like swing tags, packaging, and presentation. These little elements make the collection feel complete and cohesive.
Step Six: Signed, sealed and delivered
Once everything is approved and ready, we carefully package and prepare each piece for delivery. This is also the moment we all take a deep breath and enjoy a strong cuppa! We take huge pride in making sure our clients are thrilled with their products - so it’s always a joy when they come back with even more ideas for future collections.
