It all started in a tiny net loft in Newlyn (Cornwall) with an ancient Singer sewing machine and a pile of vintage fabrics. Over the years, the business has flourished and evolved. With expansion and downsizing, shops opening and closing, team members coming and going, we're still going strong and now with 20 years under our belt! Here's some of the ways we've been celebrating...

A team lunch outing

On April 2nd, one day after our official Birthday, the team got together and had a lovely lunch at Orange Cafe Bar in Mousehole. It was a chance to celebrate with current and past team members and reminisce on the highs and lows of 20 years in business. Oh, and not to mention to enjoy some amazing food!

A commemorative collection hit the shelves

To mark this special occasion, we launched our 20 Years Merrily Making collection - featuring some of our iconic motifs and themes such as: tea, bathers, the pea and of course, a sewing machine. Tea cosies were one of the first ever products to stock the shelves at Treffry Towers, so naturally these had to be included in this collection.

A weekend in Bovey 

We were keen to celebrate 20 years by some holding in-person, free-hand embroidery workshops. What better venue than the amazing Bovey Tracey Craft Festival. This meant transporting 8 vintage Singer sewing machines to Devon - plus a van full of stock - and setting up a pop-up studio at the festival for the weekend. We ran 9 workshops over a jam packed three days and it was completely joyful!

To top it off, we were able to meet so many wonderful new and familiar faces. We're very lucky to have a lovely community of crafters and it was great to see you under one roof (tent). Equally, we had people take part who had never tried machine embroidery. So we were so delighted to see how brilliantly you all did and loved seeing everyone's unique birdy friends. 

And we created a little book

Telling the tale of twenty years in business our keepsake booklet features photos from the archive of past products and designs. You'll see the team through the years and find out about the milestones that have kept us going for two decades.
