Star of many a murmuration this winter, as well as the occasional telephone wire line up, the humble starling, was a joy to embroider.
Worked in a restricted pallet of black white, red and yellow, Poppy's vibrant embroidery lends so much character to the bird, and was the starting point for several products in our Garden Birds range - you can even spot him on the inside of our new birds mug!
This piece was stitched by Poppy on her vintage Singer sewing machine. The slightly unpredictable nature of drawing in stitch means that the lines have a naive quality to them.
This piece is a one-off original.
