If you've never tried freehand machine embroidery, in need of a refresher or have been thinking about joining one of our Embroidery Clubs, this beginner-friendly embroidery course is the perfect place to start.
Designed after six years of running Embroidery Clubs, Poppy has created this course to answer the most common questions beginners have - making it a comprehensive yet gentle introduction to freehand embroidery.

Getting started: What freehand machine embroidery is and how to set up your machine.
Machine know-how: Cleaning, oiling, needle sizes, thread types, and tension.
Threads & tools: working with metallics, using heat-erasable pens, and choosing hoops.
Fabrics & appliqué: Selecting and sourcing fabrics, using Bondaweb, layering, and securing appliqué.
Design transfer: Tracing, stitching through paper, and getting images onto fabric.
Stitching techniques: Scribbling, drawing, shading, writing, starting and stopping.
Fixing issues: Snags, snapped needles, thread tangles, and how to correct mistakes.
Projects: Make a simple appliqué house picture, make the Favourite Flowers panelled cushion project
