    G7 visits St Ives

    G7 visits St Ives

And just like that Cornwall went back to normal and it was like it never happened! But for a few days over the weekend things got very surreal around here with cavalcades of giant black cars and security driving through Penzance, exotic helicopters circling in the sky and our beautiful beaches flashing out on news reports across the globe – Boris even revealed himself to be a keen sea swimmer, diving in for a morning dip!

When it was announced that the G7 was coming to Cornwall my first thought (once I had confirmed it wasn’t April fool’s day!) was that it would be amazing for business. In the end, however, St. Ives was very quiet; all the visitors were hanging out within the ‘ring of steel’ that said I don’t think I’m alone in feeling incredibly proud of Cornwall; our landscape, people and food. We managed to host a peaceful, positive global event in the midst of a pandemic. It’s a weekend we won’t forget in a hurry!

Sandwich Week – How do you like yours?!

Sandwich Week – How do you like yours?!

Toasted, open or Scooby-Doo style, there are endless ways to enjoy sandwiches and as 16th-22nd May is Sandwich Week there really is no excuse not to make your favourite!

Here are some thoughts about the nation’s classic packed lunch for you to consider whilst you eat yours…

    • Sausage sandwich – brown or red sauce?
    • Is an open sandwich just a topping on raw toast?
    • White or brown bread?
    • Do you butter?
    • Should tomato ever be allowed in a sandwich?
    • Bap/roll/breadcake/other?
    • Can you ever eat a toasted sandwich and not burn your mouth?

And of course the most important one of all:

    • Why do triangle sandwiches always taste better?!

    Use your loaf!

    Use your loaf!

Is there anyone left who didn’t have a go at making bread of some kind over lockdown?!

Many of us have come away simply appreciating the skills of bakers more, but there are also those of us who now can’t resist the smell of a fresh loaf in the oven and the joy of knowing we have baked it ourselves.

As the UK is gradually emerging from lockdown once more and eating outdoors is becoming the new fine dining, putting together a meal can require a bit more planning and a bit more carrying!

Our bread wraps are perfect for keeping your freshly baked loaf safe, carrying a family load of sandwiches or wrapping round a bowl of something delicious to keep bugs and picky fingers out. With a wipeable, food safe lining and velcro fastening they are super easy to use and keep clean.

We know the bread makers amongst you will have your favourite recipes, but we’ve found this selection which has a variety of options…

Poppy’s bread wrap is often used to protect her sharing bowl of potato salad. The recipe is so secret we couldn’t get it out of her, but here are a few alternatives that look pretty delicious...

our love nest cushion features in Country Living magazine

country living October country living October.

We were delighted today to find out that our love nest cushion is featured in October's edition of Country Living magazine. Very lovely it looks too. We found out because a lovely lady phoned us to order one having seen it in the magazine. She has five children and so thought it would be the perfect gift for her husband with the five little eggs in the nest - a lovely idea we thought. Now we have to make sure we don't accidentally put six eggs in the nest when we make hers, could cause a small panic in that household!!! If you've not seen our beautiful love nest cushion before then do take a look at it on our website. It was designed by very talented artist Samuel G. Winterbourne in a fun collaboration with us and we love, love, love the results. Check out Samuel's website to see more of his beautiful work.
