At Poppy Treffry we always love to hear the story of a marriage proposal and with the leap year upon us we anticipate a few more ‘untraditional’ stories.
We’ve had a little romantic day dream and believe these five places really would set the scene for the big question – whoever is doing the asking!
On the cliffs at Kynance Cove
Even on a busy day it is easy to find your own area of privacy-with-a-view as you walk along the cliff tops at Kynance Cove. Whether the sea is calm or turbulent it will lend itself to a themed speech leading to the proposal and the café in the cove is the perfect place to recover from the adrenaline rush with a cream tea.
Next to the Giant’s heart on St. Michaels Mount
When you make your declaration from the heart why not do it next to the Giant’s heart on St Michael’s Mount? You may need to make the search into part of the adventure, but you can even buy a heart badge Poppy Treffry made for the gift shop there as a reminder.
At the top of Brown Willy (heheee)
Take your loved one to a new high for your proposal by walking to the top of Brown Willy, Cornwall’s highest point. Long considered a sacred place, the views from the summit of the moorland and rocky outcrops tend to take one’s breath away.
St. Nectan’s Glen
If somewhere more secluded is what you are after for the special moment then perhaps St Nectan’s Glen amongst the waterfalls is more fitting. Described as ‘a place where animals and birds play amid a mysticism of fairies, piskies, serenaded by the wonderful sound of bird song’ there is a magical feel at every turn. To bring you luck for the big day you can leave a ribbon as an offering.
With parts of the Inn dating back to the 13th century you can immerse yourself in history complimented by the 21st century comfort and quality. There’s only one way to arrive in style here though – by boat! Water taxis, mini cruises and kayaks are all welcomed at their mooring pontoon.
Put a ring on it!
Once the question has been asked, answered and you have remembered to tell your friends and family it’s time to choose your wedding rings – and Poppy’s partner Justin is the perfect choice to make yours. If your proposal is at a beach don’t forget to collect some sand and Justin can use it to cast your rings!
