    Poppy's News - June/July 2017

What a difference a week makes! From sea swimming last week to wellies and waders this week, the British Summer Time seems to be throwing everything it has at us! My camping trip seems a distant memory - though I feel pretty lucky we went when we did! highertown farm campsite top campsites cornwall by Poppy Treffry We had a weeks camping across Cornwall whilst our house was let out on AirbnB, and we managed to explore from Cadgwith to Polperro, bootiful! Highlights were after dinner walks down to Porthcurno, cooking apple crumble on the camp stove (I know, my talents know no bounds!) and a lovely visit to the Potager garden. Our planned visit to the lovely Talland Bay Cafe was thwarted by the beginnings of the howling storms - and a hasty retreat for home! We had such a lovely week though and hopefully, if you're planning a trip to Cornwall, you might find our blog on the five best campsites useful, happy to road test more for you of course! I have been in the studio too, honest! I've been busy stitching personalised pictures for you lovely lot, they're proving really popular. I've also been busy working on things for, dare I say it, Christmas!! At the moment the collection has plenty of nostalgia, and a sprinkling of morris travellers!! Can't wait to share a sneaky peek with you all! cosy home personalised picture by poppy treffry As ever thanks for reading and supporting what we do, it means a lot to me when you comment on our posts on social media, open our newsletters and visit the blog, so thank you all. Meet our Summer competition winner

Lots of you might remember the competition we ran during the Summer of 2016 to win £150 to spend with us as well as a weekend break at the lovely Spring Park.   cosy interiors at spring park   Today we had an email from Natalie who was the lucky winner of the competition, chosen at random from the thousands of entries we received. And the good news, she had a great time, yay! Natalie chose a selection of goodies from our website and also enjoyed a weekend in Cornwall staying in the beautiful Duchess, courtesy of Spring Park.   Poppy Treffry goodies won in the competition   She told us; "We had a truly wonderful break at Spring Park - I am so glad that I won this prize draw (Poppy Treffry included) - it was made for me. The interior of The Duchess is fabulous, so beautifully restored and with gorgeous objects everywhere. We shall definitely go back.   The Tamar Valley is a lovely area - and before we have just driven through further into Cornwall. I am so pleased we were given the chance to stay and explore.   Thanks to all at Poppy Treffry and Spring Park xx"   interiors at spring park   competition winner natalie at spring park   A morning cuppa at spring park in Poppy Treffry competition   The pictures are all from Natalie's stay. Thank you Natalie for sharing and so pleased you had a lovely time.   And thank you to everyone who entered, next time, who knows, it could be you! (And I know, I never win anything either!!)

    Work Experience at Poppy Treffry!

Over the past two weeks I have been lucky enough to complete a work experience placement with Poppy and the team at Poppy Treffry! I am a huge fan of their designs, and have used them for inspiration many times over the years of studying Textiles. I was therefore super excited to get started, and I sure haven't been disappointed! I have spent most of my time at the studio in Penzance. It has been fascinating to be able to see all of the behind the scenes of the studio and business, and see all of the amazing work that team Treffry do! Everyone has been ever so friendly and welcoming, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It has also been lovely to be able to explore the area of Penzance, as I have never visited before! It's such an idyllic place, especially for photographs! DSC00359 The most exciting part of my experience was being able to use the traditional Singer sewing machines for the very first time, as I have always wanted to use one! The problem is that now I have used one, I would really love to have one of my own! I have really enjoyed each of my sewing roles, helping Liz to make the bags in the 'bag factory'. It's really exciting to be able to make a part of something that is going to be sold at Poppy Treffry! singer2 I have also been lucky enough to spend a couple of days at the Poppy Treffry shop in St Ives. I have always wanted to visit Poppy's shop, and so was really excited to finally see it in person! The shop is simply gorgeous, and is set in such an idyllic location. As Poppy has just this week began refurbishments in the shop, I have been very much involved in clearing all of the stock and fixtures from the shop, and helping begin the re-fit! This has involved lots and lots of painting! It has been really interesting to watch the shop slowly transform, and I have really enjoyed doing something completely different. st-ives St Ives has such stunning scenery, I couldn't resist exploring a little and taking some more snaps along the way.. st-ives-beach-collage I have had the opportunity to experience and get involved in so many different roles of the business, and I have learnt so much along the way. It has been such an amazing learning experience for me, and is extremely valuable to my future in textiles. I'm feeling very inspired by my time here, and am looking forward to getting back to University in Cardiff and practising all that I have learnt. I am very thankful to all of the team at Poppy Treffry for welcoming me into their little world, and am extremely grateful for having the opportunity! It's such a lovely place to work, and I would recommend it to anyone who has a love for textiles! Thanks for having me! Kelly x

It's such a good learning experience and i've had lots of fun seeing behind the scenes of the business and studio. Everyone was extremely welcoming and lovely and I have learnt alot.
