What a difference a week makes! From sea swimming last week to wellies and waders this week, the British Summer Time seems to be throwing everything it has at us! My camping trip seems a distant memory - though I feel pretty lucky we went when we did! We had a weeks camping across Cornwall whilst our house was let out on AirbnB, and we managed to explore from Cadgwith to Polperro, bootiful! Highlights were after dinner walks down to Porthcurno, cooking apple crumble on the camp stove (I know, my talents know no bounds!) and a lovely visit to the Potager garden. Our planned visit to the lovely Talland Bay Cafe was thwarted by the beginnings of the howling storms - and a hasty retreat for home! We had such a lovely week though and hopefully, if you're planning a trip to Cornwall, you might find our blog on the five best campsites useful, happy to road test more for you of course! I have been in the studio too, honest! I've been busy stitching personalised pictures for you lovely lot, they're proving really popular. I've also been busy working on things for, dare I say it, Christmas!! At the moment the collection has plenty of nostalgia, and a sprinkling of morris travellers!! Can't wait to share a sneaky peek with you all! As ever thanks for reading and supporting what we do, it means a lot to me when you comment on our posts on social media, open our newsletters and visit the blog, so thank you all. Poppy x
Ever wondered about the journey our products make before they arrive in our shop or land on your doorstep, lovingly packaged and ready for their new life? Well... They start as big rolls of fabric in the studio. Sarah Pixie cuts the fabric to size and packages it up for our stitchers, while Freya cuts out the little applique pieces to go with it... The full stitching box then heads off to one of our lovely stitchers... This one is for Briony who gets to work making all the different pieces on her vintage Singer sewing machine (of course!) The finished pieces come back to the studio to have their swing tags added and stock the shelves ready to go to the shop or direct to you... Finally they get packaged up by Tamsin who drops them off at the post office for the postie to take them on the last leg of the journey - to your letter box... We'd love to see what happens next! Post your pictures on our Facebook page or on Instagram with #PoppyTreffry.
So last week my lovely new workshop played host to it's first freehand machine embroidery day courses.
the singer sewing machines gleamed, the biscuits were melt in the mouth yum and lunch at Trereife was gorgeous!
But most importantly in between, nattering, drinking tea, getting a teeny bit competitive and mucking about with piles of yummy fabrics everyone managed to make either a bag or a tea cosy to take home with them!
Here are some photos of the courses so far....
a final action shot!
