Our Top 5 campsites in Cornwall (and we've tried a few!)

When we started writing this blog post Summer had well and truly arrived in Cornwall and we were in the middle of a heatwave! Fast forward a week as we prepare to publish the post and it's pouring down and we're wrapped in blankets! Just a typical Cornish Summer then! treen farm top campsites cornwall  Despite this seasonal unpredictability Team Treffry have been busy thinking about their summer holidays and many of us enjoy dusting off the tents and pitching up on a campsite. Even just for a weekend away, camping is really fun and relaxing for all ages. We’ve put together a list of the top 5 campsites we recommend when you’re visiting Cornwall this summer: treen farm top campsites cornwall by poppy treffry  First up is Treen Farm Campsite, right on the Coast Path, near to Penzance and boasting spectacular sea views stretching from the Lizard Peninsula to the Isles of Scilly. It’s great for the outdoors types, with lots of walking, cycling and surfing activities nearby. Next, on to Highertown Farm Campsite near Lansallos, within easy reach of the charming coastal villages and towns of Polperro, Fowey and Looe. Run by the National Trust, it is one of their greenest campsites and perfect for the natural campers as there are no formal pitches, you get to choose your own spot. This campsite has the best view from the wash station in our opinion! highertown farm campsite top campsites cornwall by Poppy Treffry No guide to the top campsites in Cornwall is complete without mentioning longtime favourite Trevedra Farm, located a mile from Lands End, which is as far west as you can go on the mainland. With a popular onsite café and shop, there’s no need for cooking yourself, unless you really want to! It is also a working farm and for 2017 they've upgraded the wash rooms and shower blocks, even better! Close to pretty, Cornish secluded beaches, there are also amazing sunsets from the site. It’s located in a hidden unspoilt valley location and they have a range of wooden lodges as well as a fully restored 1956 Airstream caravan, which we think is really cool! There are also camping pitches for the more traditional campers amongst you! During the high season you can take part in the craft activities on site - we know how much some of you hate to be away from crafting! Activities on offer include silk painting, vintage glamping sewing crafts, painting classes, decoupage art, fun with recycling, bush craft and weaving classes.Coastal vallery campers campsites in cornwall vintage airstream  And last, but by no means least, in our list of top campsites in Cornwall, moving further up the Cornish coast on the outskirts of Bude, we love Bude Meadows Touring Park. The nearest beach is Widemouth Bay, which is popular for surfers and families. The site itself boasts games areas, a shop, a heated pool and a bar. You're also well placed for the Bude sea pool at Summerleaze which is a partially man made natural swimming pool, and a brilliant safe spot to swim with the kids if you don't fancy the sea. And remember, no visit to Cornwall is complete without a little trip to the Poppy Treffry shops in Padstow or St Ives! Hope to see you soon!

    #PoppyTreffryPadstow

We recently began weekly 'blackboard fun' from our Padstow shop! Outside the shop you'll find a little blackboard and each week we'll be chalking up something different on there, sometimes a joke, sometimes perhaps something else... OK, maybe we're making this up as we go along a little bit! If you want to get involved then simply take a snap of the blackboard and share it to facebook, twitter or instagram using the #PoppyTreffryPadstow. Each week we'll choose a winner at random from those that have used the hashtag and they'll get a little PT treat in the post. poppy Treffry padstow shop blackboard outside the shop   You don't even have to come inside the shop if you don't want to, although we really think you should, but we love to see your photo's and we love to know you're there, like a virtual wave! #poppytreffrypadstow blackboard outside the padstow shopSo grab your phone or camera, take a snap and share with us using #poppytreffrypadstow and we hope to see you soon at our Padstow shop or on the world wide web! ;-)

    Meet the Padstow shop team

We’ve finally got around to introducing our lovely Padstow shop team, hurray! Turns out they’re all a little camera shy, so we had to use bribery! (Cake, who mentioned cake?! Karen the shop manager at Poppy Treffry, Padstow So first of all... Karen, our shop manager describes herself as creative, fun-loving and outdoorsy. She says the best thing about working in the Poppy Treffry shop in Padstow is being surrounded by cheerful and bright textile products and the fabulous location, she even plans to cycle in to work from Wadebridge! When she’s not working in the shop, she can be found in her own sewing workshop making lampshades, spending time exploring the coast, and sitting in dark rooms at the dead of night! (That last one is because she enjoys taking part in paranormal investigations!) Karen drinks her tea the way of the builders, with skimmed milk, no sugar. stanya from the Poppy Treffry shop in padstow Next up, Stanya, our shop assistant, who describes herself as creative, kind and cheeky! She loves all the beautiful products, friendly customers with similar interests and the view - did we mention the view?! In her spare time, she enjoys making candles (which we sell in the Poppy Treffry shops), walking and taking photographs of the beautiful Cornish scenery, visiting local cafes and sampling their cakes (well someone has to keep the Cornish economy alive!) Stanya takes her tea with milk, one sugar or sometimes with lemon and honey. Sinead from the Poppy Treffry shop in Padstow And last, but of course by no means least, Sinead, our other lovely shop assistant, who describes herself in three words as creative, funny and a mummy. She loves being in a creative, colourful environment at Poppy Treffry and getting to share her PT knowledge with the lovely customers, oh and she says the view isn’t bad either! When she’s not in the shop, she can be found at home running around after her two boys and crazy Beagle. If she gets two minutes to herself, she likes to get her canvas out and paint. Sinead can also be found sampling lots of delicious foods with her Hubby, who's a Chef, as they are real foodies. If she’s not doing any of that, Sinead can be found snuggled on the sofa reading a good book (and eating cake, shhhh!) Sinead never drinks tea, it’s Coffeeeeee all day, everyday. Strong, milky, one sugar please. The view from the Poppy Treffry shop in padstow We felt it would be rude to leave without sharing that infamous view with you, now you can understand, we're sure, quite why all the girls mentioned it! Hopefully you can come and visit us soon and check out that view for yourself. We're not sharing the cake though, sorry! Find out more about our Padstow shop here.
