    Bathing Beauties

Bathing beauties tea towel Bathing beauties tea towel.

With the new bathing beauties design added to our range for 2014 we felt it only right that we should make like a bathing beauty and have our first dip of the year. Various members of Team Treffry have been heading to the swimming pool every Wednesday lunchtime for a few lengths but with the pool being closed temporarily we decided there was nothing quite like a bracing dip in the atlantic, in April! poppy Treffry Catalogue shot of our new tea towel design

Trouble was, the day we decided we might go for a swim the following day was warm and Spring like and when the allotted swim day arrived it was a proper cold, Cornish grey and mizzly day! A quick facebook and twitter poll decided it though, more people said we should than said we shouldn't! And after nearly chickening out we found ourselves on the prom in Penzance changing into our swimming things in the persistent drizzle, lovely! But guess what, it was great, refreshing, rejuvenating, life affirming, and really, really cold!!! We only managed about 5 minutes and getting changed afterwards wasn't a whole heap of fun (especially as a couple of coats had found their ways into puddles!) but we all felt good afterwards and ready to do it again next week! bathing beauties bathing beauties.

We reckon this lot might be swimming on the french riviera in summer rather than off the prom in Penzance in April, we certainly weren't looking quite this chic!! Let us know about your bathing beauty experiences!

    My NEW CAMERA arrived!

So it was my belated new years resolution to finally keep the Poppy Treffry blog up to date! In my head I will be putting pen to paper – fingers to keyboard – every Sunday but we’ll see how it goes! The most exciting thing that happened this week was…My NEW CAMERA arrived! I have been excited ever since I ordered it 2 weeks ago, it took it’s time to get across the pond to me but it was well worth the wait…. It’s technically so that I can get back to taking lovely lifestyle shots of our products (when Justin and I divided up our workshops he got the camera and I got the charger! So I’ve had no camera since May) But I had to get testing it the minute the battery was charged and here are some of the early results…. Stockist of the month - July

July see's the first launch of our new Stockist of the month feature. Each month we want to tell you about one of our lovely stockists out there in the world selling our lovely products. We have chosen the lovely folk over at Cry of the Gulls gallery in Fowey, Cornwall as our first stockist of the month. They have been one of our longest standing stockists and they even have a little Poppy shop within their gallery! If you want to nominate a local stockist who you think deserves a mention then please drop us a line to and tell us who and why. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="535" caption="Poppy Shop"]Cry of the Gulls shop frontCry of the Gulls is a beautiful gallery in the heart of Fowey, Cornwall.  It displays a diverse range of paintings, ceramics, jewellery and accessories. This is a Cornish gallery at heart but it is also dedicated to introducing new artists and craft makers to the county. The Gallery is celebrating its 20th Birthday this summer and it has been on quite a journey. The galleries original owners emigrated to New Zealand 7 years ago when Liz and Julian Davies took over the gallery. After a lifetime of working in Art Education they made the move down from Gloucestershire and started their Cornish Life. They have transformed Cry of the Gulls into a vibrant and successful gallery that is at the heart of Fowey. Last year Liz and Julian were joined by their youngest son Oli and his partner Ben. Ben is a Professional Fine Art Photographer and Oli was an actor in London. They have started the Galleries next adventure. This summer sees the launch of their new look website with a brand new logo and are easily found via twitter (@cryofthegulls) or Facebook. Poppy has always been a staple part of the gallery and her distinctive style sits well in this contemporary gallery space. Cry of the Gulls, 2 Webb Street, Fowey, Cornwall, PL23 1AP
