Sewing Club! Tutorial: Crafty tea towel projects – wall tidy
We have a regular sewing club in our studio. Time to remember sewing just for fun, sewing our own clothes, sewing Christmas presents, all sorts. And we're thinking of our blog projects like a bit of a sewing club we can share with you. A regular tutorial where you can create a gift, or a treat for yourself and just enjoy a bit of sewing!
In this episode of sewing club we bring you... the wall tidy!
You will need:
A lovely Poppy Treffry 'Bathing Beauties' Tea towel
Tape measure
Scissors
Pins
Backing fabric (you could use an old pillow case or similar)
Sewing machine
First, cut your backing fabric to the same size as your tea towel and hem on all 4 sides.
Next cut your bathing beauties tea towel into 3 strips (with 3 bathing beauties on each strip)
Hem the top only of each strip
Place the hemmed backing fabric face up and place strips face down, spaced out evenly over the backing fabric. (use a tape measure to make sure)

Now pin and sew up between each bathing beauty from the bottom of the wall hanging all the way to the top, to create the pockets.
Using some of the left over fabric from the tea towel, cut three 10cm by 20cm strips. Iron each long side into the centre and then fold in half length ways to creat the hanging loops.
Pin the folded tabs to the top of the wall tidy and sew. We've sewn a cross to make it a bit stronger.
And, ta dah!! You have made a wall tidy, hurray! Now it's up to you, either pop this on your wall and get organised or wrap it beautifully and wow your friends with your creative skills!
And to encourage you to get creative we're giving you free delivery on our bathing beauties tea towel until the end of November 14. Use code making at checkout.
We hope you'll join us for sewing club again soon and we'd love to hear about your makes, let us know in the comments here or over on facebook what you've been up to, particularly if you make our bathing beauties wall tidy!
