About 16-18 years ago when visiting Cambridge to view university colleges with a group of sixth-form pupils, I bought a Poppy Treffry tea cosy in a lovely little gift shop. At the time, I considered it quite an indulgent purchase, but I just couldn't resist the fine workmanship. It was beautifully made with premium quality fabrics (the interior was pale green needlecord, the exterior was a firm slubby beige fabric and the padding was impressively thick) and cute appliqué and stitching. It has been in daily use since then and is clearly showing its age. So, I thought I would join you in celebrating your 20th anniversary by replacing my well-worn and much-loved 'original' with your attractive anniversary design. What a disappointment! It is so thin and insubstantial by comparison although bright and cheerful in appearance. I was so looking forward to opening the carefully wrapped package, but just feel so let down. I may revert to my original tea cosy and gift the new one because it just makes me sad instead of bringing the anticipated joy.
